Sessional Worker
1. Purpose
To assist social work staff and foster carers by providing one to one support
for children in care, enabling care plans to be implemented in accordance
with the policies and protocols of the Agency.
2. Values

3. Functions
i. Direct work with children/young people - building self esteem, advocacy
work and activities for children
ii. To maintain close liaisons with foster families on events/changes occurring
in foster children’s lives which might affect their behaviour/placement.
iii. To prepare reports and maintain records as appropriate.
iv. To liaise closely with the fostering team.
v. Attending pre-placement planning meetings, case conferences, internal
planning meetings and statutory reviews on children who are or may be placed,
as required.
vi. To supervise and support contact between children and birth families.
vii. Provide transport, when necessary, for children enabling them to attend
appointments and contact
4. Structure
i. To be accountable to the Senior Practitioner for professional performance.
ii. To benefit from professional supervision from the Senior Practitioner,
on a regular basis.
