HANNAH AND FRED

Our process of becoming a foster carer started with an informal chat and with a warm welcome, we knew Kasper was the place for us and that fostering was something we wanted to pursue.

We met regularly with a social worker who talked through the process, it was very thorough, but we understood the reasons why and information was shared on each step going forward.

We went through panel as new foster carers, we were excited to begin our journey and we matched with children who needed our care and to join our family. But what we didn't realise is that we are joining a larger family with Kasper. We call for support, have a cup of tea and catch up, share experiences and we have met some fantastic people.

We welcomed children into our home, and they became part of our family and it's the most rewarding thing we've ever done. The therapeutic care training challenged our mindsets and really helped us to understand the challenges children in care face. We knew how vital it was to give children the care and acceptance they need, but seeing it in a new light highlighted the importance of the job carers do.

Every day there is a new challenge, knew learning and new experiences. Some days are more challenging than others and that's when the Kasper team thrive at helping and supporting, and as a small team can offer so much for the children we care for.

We look forward to many years as carers and couldn't imagine working with any other agency.
